Switch & Data Colocation Data Center

Switch & Data worked closely together to design-build their new 12,000 square foot colocation facility in downtown Sacramento. This project, similar to many telecommunication projects, was constructed in a completely renovated existing building based on its proximity to fiber, available power and Pacific Bellís Central Office. The Switch and Data project required the upsize of the electrical service, the installation of a backup generator and its own support fuel tank. The colocation room is all standard computer room flooring being cooled by redundant computer room air conditioning units. The design and construction of this facility was one of the first telecommunication data centers built in downtown Sacramento and this project received it fair share of consideration by the building department. One of the challenges that faced the MarketOne Builders, Inc. construction team was the tight site coupled with the adjacent building being a hotel and an apartment building.During closeout of this project, there was no available parking onsite for the many tradespeople needed to complete this project.Close scheduling and coordination of field activities led to the successful completion of this project for Switch & Dataís start-up.
